About the Artist (Save)
Ms. Yongjing Li started painting practice when she was very young. She has learned from several famous Chinese and foreign artists in both the Chinese traditional and Western painting styles. She kept exploring by practicing ceaselessly and has finally developed a new style of her own. On the basis of carrying forward the good characteristics, she has created a group of paintings with both Chinese characteristics and modern aesthetic values.

She has won many prizes and has drawn the attention and appreciation of Chinese and foreign professional personages. Her paintings have been collected by Wisconsin University and scores of art-lovers. Her heavy-color Chinese painting Gate of Culture has been chosen, together with other state artworks, by the Wisconsin State Tourism Department to be made into a DVD, entitled Art So Good in Wisconsin. The disk is to be sent to travel agencies and travel departments all over the world, to invite travelers to visit Wisconsin and enjoy art works throughout the state. Ms. Li’s painting was the only Chinese painting chosen.
Not long ago, after seeing Ms. Li’s paintings over the internet, the Art Working Committee of the UN expressed their appreciation and praise, and extended her their invitation to exhibit her art works at the next biennial Exhibition of Florence, Italy.
Ms. Li has won the Exhibition Awards of Wisconsin State 12 times. In 2004 she won the “James A. Schwalbach Creativity Award” for her painting titled The Healing Power. At the Painting Exhibition in 2004; her Passion won a “Certificate of Merit award” in 2002.

In 2006, white teaching Chinese painting and creative painting, Ms Li opened a home-style gallery named “Artigen Gallery” to display works many Chinese painters and local artists. She wanted to let more Chinese and American friends and artists appreciate authentic Chinese art.
In May 2007, the artists of the Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors Association visited her gallery, listened to her lecture on the traditions and developments of Chinese painting. They watched and emulated her performance of painting and calligraphy and unanimously spoke favorably of the experience.
Ms. Li has a deep love of life, and an ardent love for children. While working as an art teacher in the Madison Fine Art Chinese School and Hope Chinese School, she was well accepted and welcomed by the students and their parents for her earnest and very creative teaching. Her point of view is that since children mainly think in images, painting is able to promote the development of their intelligence, and is helpful in cultivating their ability to make keen observations. Parents should not expect children to become adult-like painters at an early age. Instead, they should try to fully inspire their endless imaginations and creativity by way of their scrawling, so as to arouse their ability to think in the abstract.
